Iperia Integrates Commetrex BladeWare™ Fax Media Server into ActivEdge™

Atlanta, GA and North Billerica, MA, March 20, 2007 — Commetrex Corp., a leading provider of HMP media servers and networking products for converged networks, and Iperia, a leader in unified communication solutions for NextGen networks announced that Iperia has selected and is currently deploying the Commetrex BladeWare™ Fax Media Server to provide the fax-messaging features in Iperia's ActivEdge™.

ActivEdge is an open, standards-based voice-over-IP (VoIP) service-network solution that allows Iperia's carrier customers to quickly and cost-effectively deploy communications services, such as unified messaging, auto-attendant, conferencing and fax support. ActivEdge takes advantage of the latest advances in network architectures and software-based media servers to provide a distributed IP solution. Carriers benefit through reduced costs, rapid deployment, and lowered operational expenses, while delivering differentiating services to their subscribers.

“ActivEdge Fax enables subscribers to have faxes delivered directly to their unified mailbox. Subscribers can store fax messages, control when and where faxes are printed, send faxes from their mailbox to another subscriber's mailbox or e-mail address, and send faxes to traditional fax machines. "We chose BladeWare Fax Media Server as a component of ActivEdge because it supports our open, distributed network architecture and the industry-standard protocols that ActivEdge uses,” said Art Leondires, COO and EVP of Products for Iperia.

BladeWare is an all-software only media server that supports fax send-receive using both T.38 and G.711 pass-through faxes in SIP-based service networks, such as IMS. “T.38 is the industry standard for the IP transport of faxes in real time. Since not all gateways and IP networks support T.38, the ability to support G.711 pass-through fax is important for a fax media server," pointed out Tom Ray, Commetrex, EVP of Marketing and Sales. "We are extremely pleased that a leading provider of unified communication solutions, such as Iperia, is deploying BladeWare as part of its ActivEdge product," continued Ray.

BladeWare is an open-architecture media server, which means developers can use the BladeWare APIs to develop proprietary applications. BladeWare is also available with ready-to-deploy applications, such as Fax Media Server. FMS turns a BladeWare system into a network appliance that is IMS ready. This means that FMS is an IMS media-resource function (MRF) that is directed by application servers via the SIP protocol.

Commetrex (Booth# 641) and Iperia (Booth# 127) will be exhibiting their products at Spring VON 2007 in San Jose, CA March 19-22.
